Step 1: How to Install Digg-like theme
Installing the Digg-like
theme is just like installing any other theme.-
Action 1:
Unzip the the template file (digg-like-theme-v.1.0.zip) that you have downloaded. -
Action 2:Upload the theme to your theme directory, which can be found here:
/wp-content/themes/ - Action 3:Log into your
WordPress admin panel and click on the Design tab, where you will have
screenshots of the themes in your themes directory. -
Action 4: Click on the Digg-like theme to activate it

You’re required to download the following plugins to avoid any occurring errors while using our Digg-like

This plugin shows excerpts of the latest comments and/or trackbacks in your sidebar. You have comprehensive control about their appearance.

WordPress site. It looks like the paging bar used on Digg.Step 3: Inserting a Video into your sidebar
In this section we’ll explain how to insert a video into your sidebar.

Action 1:
Go into your admin control panel and select Manage and then CategoriesCreate a category called Video -
Action 2:
Select the Write tab at the top of the page and write a blog post in the Video category.
Find the video you want to post from Youtube. Once you�ve found your video, you need to get the embed URL and copy/paste it into your post. Scroll down to the Custom Fields box and expand it.From the dropdown menu select Video
In the Value box, insert the url of video you want to display from
YouTubee.g http://www.
youtube.com/v/KL1TDbll6ws.Note, you must end the address with a full-stop, as shown in the image below. And if the
youtube url is like
http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=fiMkQTru7z8, you need to modify it to http://www. youtube.com/v/fiMkQTru7z8. (replace watch?v= with watch/v/ )
Step 4: Displaying a thumbnail next to your posts
In this section we’ll explain how to display a thumbnail next your blog posts, as shown in the image below:

Action 1:Upload the image into the upload folder, which can found wp-content/themes/digg-theme/images/uploads
Action 2:Select the Write tab at the top of the page and write a blog post.Scroll down to the Custom Fields box and expand it.In the Key field write “Thumbnail.”
In the Value box, insert the name of the image you just uploaded e.g thumbnail1.jpg and press Add custom field
Step 4: Creating Digg-Like Text Logo
In this section we’ll explain how to create your custom Digg-like text-logo.

Action 1:In the theme directory you will find a folder called FFF_Forward (for digg theme).zip.
Unzip the folder. -
Action 2:
In the extracted folder you will find a file called FFFFORWA.TTF. Copy it into your Fonts folder, which can be found in
your Control Panel folder. -
Action 3:
By using photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop, you should now be able to find the font in your font drop down menu as shown in the
image below: -

Action 4:
Select your font settings as the following: Regular | 20 pt | Strong | White -
Action 5:Open a page in your photo editing software sized 200 x 45 and use the new font to write your text-logo.
Make sure the page is transparent, and has no background colour. -
Action 6:Save the image as a transparent gif and name it digg_like_logo.gif. -
Action 7:
Upload the image into your images folder which you can find here: digg-like-theme-v.1.0/images/.
It should replace the exiting file (if you have named it correctly).
